• Hydrate— we recommend that for seven days pre-treatment you moisturize your skin in the morning and evening, and drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to completely hydrate your skin and optimize treatment results. You may be provided an antiviral prophylaxis 3-4 days prior to the procedure if you are undergoing a deeper peel or have a history of Herpes Simplex to avoid outbreak. Avoid any prolonged exposure to the sun, if you must be in the sun use a zinc oxide sunscreen of at least SPF 30+. Remove all substances from the intended treatment area, including topical anesthetics, hairspray, gel, makeup, lotions, deodorants, self-tanning products, and ointments. Do not use flammable products in the vicinity of the laser.

  • Safety considerations are important during the laser procedure Protective eyewear will be worn by the patent and all personnel in the operative suite during the procedure to reduce the chance of damage to the eyes. Your provider will take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety. A smoke evacuator will be used to remove any smoke or debris from the air. Test spot areas may be performed to gauge appropriate endpoints and optimum treatment parameters followed by a two-week observation per provider request. to assess results.

  • Depending on the procedure you may be supplied with a post laser care bag.

    Supplies need are:

    • A gentle cleanser​ (cetaphil, Vanicream Cleanser)

    • Gauze​

    • Saline or clean water​ (bottled water)

    • White vinegar (for dilute vinegar soaks); use 1 TBSP white vinegar in a cup of saline or water​

  • Immediately post treatment – erythema and a sunburn like feeling is common. This can last up to a couple hours post treatment. To reduce the discomfort and remove the heat, saline soaks are recommended. *Saline Soaks: Soak gauze in saline or sterile water and apply to the area that was treated. Keep the gauze on skin which will allow the skin to cool down for 5-10 minutes.

  •  Next day use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer: a simple moisturizer is recommended for heat, tightness, or itching (edema/erythema). Repeat as often as needed for comfort. Patients should sleep in a modified upright position along with a clean pillowcase and linens the first night.

  •   Begin cleaning the treated areas with a gentle facial cleanser using nothing more abrasive than the fingertips. Do not scrub treated areas. Continue to apply moisturizer and SPF as instructed by your treatment provider. Patient should sleep in a modified upright position for the second or consecutive nights as needed.

     If the patient is going to be outside and exposed to the sun, ensure a hat is worn along with daily SPF for full protection.

  • Immediately post treatment – erythema and a sunburn like feeling is common. This can last up to a few hours post treatment. To reduce the discomfort and remove the heat, saline soaks are recommended. *SalineSoaks: Soak gauze in saline or sterile water and apply to the area that was treated. Keep the gauze on skin which will allow the tissue to cool down for 5-10 minutes. Apply a barrier ointment (Vaseline, Aquaphor, or Cerave ointment), to the treated area for a protective barrier and optimal healing.

  • The next day you will want to incorporate vinegar soaks 3-5 times per day. Use a gentle cleanser, vinegar soak, followed up Vaniply for 3-5 days post treatment. Patients should sleep in a modified upright position along with a clean pillow case and linens the first night. *VinegarSoaks: 1 tsp of white distilled vinegar mixed with 16 oz of bottled or sterile water. On day 5 or once the tissue is re-epithelized you can use a lighter moisturizer and your daily SPF. Day 2-7 Post-Treatment: 

  • Begin cleaning the treated areas with a gentle facial cleanser using nothing more abrasive than the fingertips. Do not scrub treated areas. Continue to apply moisturizer, Vaniply ointment, and SPF as instructed by your treatment provider. Patient should sleep in a modified upright position along with a clean pillowcase and linens for the second or consecutive nights as needed.

     Vinegar soaks can be used for persistent discomfort:  Mix 1 tsp of white distilled vinegar with 16 oz. of bottled or sterile water.  Remove Vaniply prior to vinegar soaks with cool moist cloth, post soak, reapply moisturizing ointment. Repeat as needed.

    If you are going to be outside and exposed to the sun wear a hat and your daily SPF for full protection.
